The National Center for Human Rights Monitors the Municipal and Governorate Council Elections 2017

The Commissioner-General of the National Center for Human Rights, H.E. Dr. Musa Buraizat, announced that the Center decided to monitor the Municipal and Governorate Council Elections 2017 after the approval of the Prime Minister, H.E. Dr. Hani Al-Mulqi to provide the necessary financial support to the Center so that it can conduct the monitoring process discreetly and efficiently through the competent field teams, and the assessment of the integrity and transparency standards throughout all stages of the electoral process, in accordance with the best methodological standards and guidelines adopted for this purpose.

In addition, the Prime Minister informed the Chairperson of the Center of the Government’s approval to provide the support we need to carry out this role, which falls within the Center’s mandate and legal competence. The specialized teams within the Center have initiated the necessary preparatory measures throughout the stages of the electoral process, particularly with regard to the election day of 15/8/2017 in all the electoral constituencies in the Kingdom. it is recalled that, the Council of Ministers issued a decision to hold the municipal and governorate council elections 2017, in accordance with according to the provisions of paragraph (a) of Article (34) of the Municipalities Law No. (41) for the year 2015 and the provisions of paragraph (a) of Article (12) of the Decentralization Law No. (49) for the year 2015.
